Getting started
How long does setup take?+
Minutes, not a rollout project. Sign in with a local account or connect Microsoft Entra ID, then import or sync your first assets.
Do I need Microsoft 365?+
No. AssetPilot has its own local login, so the full asset registry, check-outs and purchasing workflow work standalone for any organisation. If you do run Microsoft 365, connecting Entra ID unlocks single sign-on plus Intune, Autopilot and license sync, but it's entirely optional.
Can I import existing assets?+
Yes, bring your current register in by import and AssetPilot will deduplicate on serial number and hostname as it goes.
Integrations
Which Microsoft services do you connect to?+
Entra ID for SSO and directory, Intune for managed devices, Windows Autopilot for provisioning state, Microsoft 365 for license SKUs and Teams for purchasing approvals.
What permissions do you need?+
Read-only access to directory, device and license data, granted with admin consent. Nothing is written back to your tenant.
How does warranty sync work?+
Serial numbers are looked up automatically when an asset is created and refreshed on a schedule, using the manufacturer's warranty API with your own API credentials. Multiple vendors are supported.
Security & data
Is access role-based?+
Yes. Configurable roles gate what each person can see and do, with a self-service portal for end users to view only their own equipment.
Can we self-host?+
Enterprise supports private and self-hosted deployment on a Postgres data layer, with SSO enforcement and custom roles.
Do you write to our Microsoft tenant?+
No. Directory, device and license integrations are read-only. The only write-path is posting purchase-approval cards to a Teams channel you configure.
Billing
How is pricing counted?+
Per managed asset, per month: the physical devices in your register. End users, approvers and admins are unlimited on every plan.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes, Starter and Professional include a free trial so you can connect your own tenant before committing.
