IT asset management software: how to choose one for a Microsoft environment
Most ITAM tools look similar in a demo. Here's the checklist that actually separates them once you're running Intune, Entra ID and Microsoft 365 day to day.

Every IT asset management platform's homepage looks roughly the same: track hardware, manage licenses, cut costs. The differences that actually matter only show up once you're running it against a real Microsoft-first environment, so it's worth going into a buying process with a specific checklist rather than a feature-list comparison.
The honest answer is how much manual reconciliation the tool eliminates versus how much it adds. A platform that pulls Intune, Autopilot, Entra ID and Microsoft 365 licensing together automatically removes the monthly CSV-export ritual most IT teams are stuck doing today. One that just gives you another place to manually enter the same data you already have somewhere else is a net loss, however polished the interface.
If you're evaluating options, start from what's already reconciled automatically rather than what's demoed well: ask to see a live Intune-to-register match on real data, not a curated example.
